POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision and direction of the CFO, the Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing all incoming invoices to the hospital ensuring that proper authorization procedures have been followed and that the correct cost center has been charged. Prepares special projects at the direction of the Coordinator.

I. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Matches invoices with receiving documents and purchase orders or check requests
• Ensures invoices are coded to proper expense accounts
• Enters codes and invoices into the computer Accounts Payable system.
• Prepares all computer check runs
• Prepares all manual checks when requested by the CFO
• Utilizes verbal communication with a high degree of effectiveness
• Utilizes clerical skills effectively in maintaining proper records with the department
• Provides reports as requested
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the CFO
• Possess general knowledge of the General ledger and the proper internal controls of the Accounts Payable
• Utilizes clerical skills effectively in maintaining proper records within the department
• Determines appropriate priorities for activities based on work demands
• Maintains awareness of current hospital and departmental policies and procedures which impact on position responsibilities
• Maintains own professional growth through utilization of inservice programs and other self-directed learning activities
• Alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others initiating appropriate corrective actions
• Ensures that problems/concerns regarding activities in the department are communicated with the Coordinator

I. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Microsoft Office

2. High school graduate

3. Minimum of 2 years experience with computerized accounts payable system

4. Associates Degree or 2 years experience in field
